What we do, we call it "photo-sculpture", seems very technical and technological. But that's not really the important thing. We love the smiles of the people who stop in front of our display, we love the surprised faces of our customers when they see themselves "shrunken" for the first time. And to achieve the most important thing is "art", a lot of art.

Why would we talk about how we do it, when the important thing is what we do?... Even so, we often say that our work process is divided into several steps.

It all starts with a 3D scan. This is very similar to taking a photograph and the important thing is to help our clients to pose with that naturalness that characterizes our works. Technically what we are doing is measuring the shape and reading the colour of the portrayed person. Really high tech!

Then we treat this still unpolished virtual image to turn it into a complete human figure, we correct shapes, we improve colour, we remove shadows, etc. It is a very specialized job, requiring a very specific training, but where art is undoubtedly the most important factor.

Finally, layer by layer, over thousands of layers, we create the final sculpture, in colour, a real solid piece. And for that we use the best materials and our expertise in the manual finishing of our works. Almost magical!

The final step is to deliver the sculpture to our customer, that is the moment that gives real meaning to all our hard work.

Sculptarium - 3d sculpture from photographs

The constant demand for sculptures made without the portrayed person visiting the studio, working only from photos, motivated us to launch a "3d sculpture" service: Sculptarium.

It is entirely a 3d modelling and design process, naturally more expensive than the 3d scanning procedure we use for the ThreeDee-You photo-sculptures. Therefore, and to keep costs and prices within affordable limits, we make the 3d design only of the head and we take advantage of our immense collection of bodies of real people to find a body similar to the one portrayed.

And so our clients can give a surprise with a present f a 3d sculpture made without the portrayed person being aware of what was being prepared: simply bringing him the box with the 3d sculpture inside to leave him "petrified" when opening it. And many of those portrayed assure that yes, that the body is theirs...
